Will be picking up a Savage 12BVSS in .223 next week and will be putting a Farrel one piece base on it. Need to know which rings I should get for the 30mm scope. Need to keep expenditures low as this purchase is going to strap the old pocketbook. Looked at the Brownells catalog and can't seem to find what I need. Looking at Weavers but they only have low and high. Really don't want scope to sit high off barrel. Plan on putting Butler Creeks on it also. All suggestions will be given due consideration.

try tactical precision, very nice rings, every bit as good as Badger Ordanance but for half the price. They make them out of many different materials from aluminum to titanium. prices usually start around $70. Have a set on my Rem 700 5r.

I'm a Badger fan.

But, the more I hear about TPS rings, the more willing I am to try them!!

Great price, and several people who's opinion I respect are raving about them..

Sorry about that!! I missed the SS 16x42mm part.

I run medium Badgers with a 44mm USO scope. I'm quite sure that is all you need.

You might get by with standards, but mediums would still give you enough clearance to put BC caps on, but low enough to give you a good cheek weld...

+1 on the TPS TSR's

With the Ferrell base (which is a tall one!), you'll clear with the "LOW" TPS rings (even with BC caps).

So I found out on their website. Went to Brownells to order, out of stock was about all I could find. Ordered Leupold instead. Not very good if you can't order them. Thanks for the info though, it is appreciated.

Most of the high end tactical rings are being gobbled up by contracts or individual soldiers right now, its tough to get anything military related.
