Subject: Question regarding USPS insurance claim

Hi guys. Hope I can get some help and/or advice...

I am participating in a transaction where I am buying a 260ai barrel from a friend out of state. I sent him the money in a Priority Mail box cash inside(I KNOW, STUPID) instead of a US Postal Money order. Inside the box was also some Nosler bullets in their box that was part of the cash + trade for the barrel.  Well, I got Delivery Confirmation AND insured the package for $300.  Tonight I went to the USPS website and tracked the package. The site is showing that the package was DELIVERED this past Friday to another city & state!

So, here's my question.  It looks like I have an insurance claim. Will the Post Office insure my full $300 amount?  I have no way to prove how much cash I put in the envelope along with the bullets. Does this even matter since I insured for $300 and the package is now lost?

Please help/advise.  I KNOW that I should have used a postal money order but now I'm in damage control mode.  Should I be ok & get my full $300 in insurance or am I going to have to prove that was I shipped was $300?

Thanks

They have paid me my full amount ( 500.00 ) and didn't know what was in the package. Just some pain-in -the tail paper work to fill out is all.

Many years ago the Post Office wanted me to go to the Post Office and show them the damaged cardboard box and the broken item so that the Sender could collect the claim.

the best thing to do is CALL them and show them it was delivered to the wrong place. as for the insurance it dosen't matter whats in the box but how much ins you took out on it. They will make you jump thru a few hoops but they will make it right.
