Hi Guys/Gals -

Would anyone feel comfortable stating their opinions on the best candidate for the upcoming presidential race?

I have been researching in my spare time and am not in LOVE w/ any of them yet.

Any information would be appreciated.  I don't see any standout candidates that would earn my vote - MAYBE

Fred Thompson - he seems to be the least politician-like out of the bunch.  Anyone know his stance on gun-control and

conservation?

I look forward to replies.

J

From what I have seen so far, none of the viable candidates in the race is worth voting for.

WHO IS BARACK OBAMA?

Democratic primary presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black Muslim from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white atheist from Wichita, Kansas.

Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii.

When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father Returned to Kenya.

His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a radical Muslim From Indonesia.

When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia.

Obama attended a Muslim school in Jakarta.

He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim.

He Is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school."

Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best.

In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya Soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over His son's education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam.

Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta. Wahabism is the radical teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world.

Since it is politically expedient to be a Christian when seeking Major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential candidacy.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level!

I Know who I’m not voting for ........................

i think this should show where he stainds.I know his saying is ( keep your powder dry)

One of the things that have got to be going through a lot of peoples' minds now is how one man with two handguns, that he had to reload time and time again, could go from classroom to classroom on the Virginia Tech campus without being stopped. Much of the answer can be found in policies put in place by the university itself.

Virginia, like 39 other states, allows citizens with training and legal permits to carry concealed weapons. That means that Virginians regularly sit in movie theaters and eat in restaurants among armed citizens. They walk, joke, and rub shoulders everyday with people who responsibly carry firearms — and are far safer than they would be in San Francisco, Oakland, Detroit, Chicago, New York City, or Washington, D.C., where the permits are difficult or impossible to obtain.

The statistics are clear. Communi

On gun control — Thompson opposes gun control, praising a recent federal appeals decision overturning a long-standing handgun ban in Washington, D.C.: "The court basically said the Constitution means what it says, and I agree with that."

• His

Voted NO on more penalties for gun & drug violations. (May 1999)
Voted YES on loosening license & background checks at gun shows. (May 1999)
Voted YES on maintaining current law: guns sold without trigger locks. (Jul 1998)
Voted NO on $1.15 billion per year to continue the COPS program. (May 1999)

Gun Owners of America ratings — "He has no need to convince voters that he has changed his ways and now sees the light, because he has been fairly consistent throughout his career."

Here is the bottom line, folks — we in the gun culture do NOT have a second choice! Fred Thompson is our candidate; let's get him elected!

You need get it right.  Your statments are half truths and inaccurate.  May I suggest that you get Obama's book like I have.

1) Obama's bio-dad was smart, but a jerk in Africa.  He got some old ladies to help him write letters to colleges in the US.  He had a wife and kids in Africa.  He then abadoned them and went to UH.  When school was over at UH.  He ABANDONED that wife and Barack and went to Harvard Law.  Where he repeated the cycle, abandoning that wife and daughter after law schools was finished going back to Africa where he was a minor offical for a while.  He fell from grace from the power that be and strugled to survive.   While his name was muslim he did not practice the faith and was fond of whiskey.

2) Obama's step father was good to Barack. He was not a "radical muslem", but a Maoist Commie with a muslem background.  Having been in America he survived a poltical reducation camp, rather than death upon his recall to his country.  Several member of his family were killed by the government for thier communist ties.  He played it cool and grew the family business.  Barack did go to a madrasa.  He did not fit in well. There was a language barrier.  He was too weak and was picked on.  His mom seeing what was happening, home schooled him in English and the American civil rights movement at the same time.

3) His mom seeing the problem, got him away from his step father and back to the states.  His grandmother leveraged her contacts with the bank and got him into the best of the local schools.

4) While attending the Unitarian Univeralist church growing up in Hawaii,  Barack Obama professed no faith until after being a political organiser in Chicago.  He stated that his name was muslim, but he did not have any religous affliation then.

5) He is proud of his family who is Muslim, in particuare his brother with stoped drinking to be a Muslem.

6) If some one could cite me some background on his Christain belief that would be great. I know that he did not get serious until living in Chicago dealing with some powerful ministers there.  The thing you have to remember is that if he even says he is Christian, that is an afront to the Muslems.  It is not just heresy, but apostasy and thus worthy of death.

I do not agree with him on any issues I know of, but do like to get facts straight.

Fred Thompson is my candidate, IF indeed he's running.  Have problems in one way or another with most of the rest.  Duncan Hunter sounds like he supports my values, but I don't think he stands any chance of being elected.  Things can change between now and then though.

Fred or Hunter are the only two I would consider.  If neither of them gets the nomination, for the first time since turning 18, I won't vote.

I really like Fred Thompson and hope he decides to run.....If not then we have to decide an alternative that would be the best choice..............But! I will say this. If this country elects Hillary Clinton, we are all in trouble!!!!.................Folks! This is what todays modern liberal democratic party stands for! But, you will never hear them say these things!............Higher taxes!.. When you raise taxes, it hurts the economy as a whole. Lower tax rates INCREASE the revenue to the treasury! Works everytime it`s tried, including JFK`s tax cuts in the early 60`s! Reagan`s tax cuts in the 80`s! The Bush tax cuts of today! When you raise taxes on upper income people, the little guy gets hurt because upper income people employ the little guys. I have never gotten a job from a poor person! Have any of you?? So, if you want to pay higher taxes for more govt. social programs that don`t work, then vote for Hillary!!............Remember that BAFOON,,,JIMMY CARTER?? ......If you want more socialism, nationalizing health care and taking away people`s choices for their own health care, then vote for Hillary!!......................If you want to redistribute the wealth via more socialism, then vote for Hillary!!.....................If you want a leader who along with her party, will show appeasement and weakness in the eyes of our terrorists enemies, then vote for Hillary!!..................If you want a party that is much weaker on national security, vote for Hillary and the dems!.............If you wish for your right to own firearms be jeapordized, then vote for Hillary!!   Or Obama, assumming he`s nominated. No difference in the liberal belief system!!

The way things go in Washington is simple

money goes from corporation to lobbiest to politician

all the rest is smoke and mirrors for the public.

sad but true - with the major investors and special interest groups tied to every elected official...............

the people of this country will never be represented fairly, i'm afraid.

we need to clean house and have new election policies.  if the politicians are legit, they will keep their seats.

but that will never happen.

I'm With Fred - Weekly Update

Greetings from Kansas City, Missouri!

This morning I spoke to the 108th National Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. It was an honor to meet with the men and women who are living symbols of our defense of freedom. It is because of their sacrifices that America is the bright, clear beacon of hope and freedom to those who don’t possess it.

FDT

It reminded me how much we owe to our men and women in uniform today, as well as those who have already shed blood for our freedom.

We are in a long struggle with an enemy that will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. I have faith we will win the war we are now fighting on multiple fronts, because I have faith in our fighting men and women.

We cannot predict the course our defense of freedom will follow, or the sacrifices that will be made … though we know what the outcome must be.

We can also be certain of some other things. That our defense of freedom is right. That the character of our troops is strong, and that we must continue to honor not only those who serve, but who have served. And that if we stand together, united as a people—as we have in times past—the cause of freedom will prevail.

Polling Update

As Michigan considers whether to move its primaries up to January 15, 2008, and join other early action states, Fred Thompson finished first in polls in Michigan and South Carolina, and tied for second in Nevada.

Michigan:
EPIC/MRA (8/13/07)

South Carolina: Public Policy Polling (8/13/07) 22 18 11 17

Quotes of Note

“This kind of honesty and candor is only possible with a candidate for whom the truth is more important than the job. And it sounds like Fred is ready.”
Star Parker, president of the Coalition on Urban Renewal and Education, in Scripps Howard News Service

“He, I think, convinced a lot of people that he'll be a leader on those issues that impact Christian--traditional families.”
Steve Scheffler, The Iowa Christian Alliance, on NBC

“There is an authenticity about him (Thompson) that seemed to contrast with candidates really going back a couple of election cycles.”
Stephen Hayes, senior writer at The Weekly Standard, on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal

Fred on the Issues

A New York State of Mind

When I was working in television, I spent quite a bit of time in New York City. There are lots of things about the place I like, but New York gun laws don't fall in that category.

Anybody who knows me knows I've always cared deeply about the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. So I've always felt sort of relieved when I flew back home to where that particular civil liberty gets as much respect as the rest of the Bill of Rights.

Unfortunately, New York is trying, again, to force its ways on the rest of us, this time through the courts. First, they went after U.S. gun manufacturers, seeking through a lawsuit not only money but injunctive control over the entire industry. An act of congress in 2005 blocked, but did not end, that effort.

Now, the same activist federal judge from Brooklyn who provided Mayor Giuliani’s administration with the legal ruling it sought to sue gun makers, has done it again. Last week, he created a bizarre justification to allow New York City to sue out-of-state gun stores that sold guns that somehow ended up in criminal hands in the Big Apple.

The lawsuit has been a lesson in out-of-control government from the get-go. Mayor Bloomberg sent private investigators to make "straw" purchases – illegally buying guns for somebody else. According to the ATF, NY's illegal "stings" interfered with ongoing investigations of real gun traffickers.

Obviously, New York won't get much cash out of the few dozen shops being sued in Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, <
