Varmint Hunter I use 17Rem, 220 Swift and 22-250 trying to find a good combination. I have used Varget, H380, IMR4064 mostly 50gr Noslers or 52gr HP. I would like some suggestions Thank you....

For my 22-250 I found IMR4895, IMR4064, and H380 to be the three most accurate powders. IMR4064 was the very best at 36.5gr behind 50gr V Maxes, the IMR4895 was right behind. I used winchester brass with WLR or CCI BR2 primers with the bullet .025 off the lands. Most 22-250's seem to like a bit of jump as my other barrel shoots best at the same spot. Work up to that 4064 load as it might be warm in your rifle. It will produce 3940fps average out of 26" barrel and sub 1/4" groups.

H380 shot best at 38.5gr and 4895 shot best at 34gr. with the same 50 gr bullets. Sierra HPBT 52's didn't shoot quite as well and the 55 gr flat base V Maxes were not nearly as accurate. Mine has a 1 in 12 twist.

I also liked IMR4064 in the .22-250, but switched over to Varget. It is much more consistent with temperature extremes - like when you chamber a round in a hot chamber and it sits for a while waiting for the next shot. I would guess it would work well in .220 Swift as well, but don't have any experience with that. I'd try Benchmark for the .17 Rem for the same reasons - but don't have any experience there either.

Good luck!

I use RL15 in my 22-250's  and imr 4350 in my 220 swifts. I use bench mark and  imr 4198 in my 222, 223 and 204's so they might be good in a 17.  Good luck.
