I'll preface this by saying I know there are several factors that can effect the accuracy of a Ar-15, the question I have here is simply to gain information and possibly eliminate the mount as the culprit of my sudden accuracy loss.
OK with that, I've been having issues as of late with my Ar groups basically doubling in size, In fact in the last 300 or so rounds I've shot very few sub-moa groups. I just got back this morning from a little time with a shooting coach and he also was having issues with my rifle not grouping. That should eliminate me as the error, I hope. I obviously hand-load for this rifle and the loads that previously would group well are now floating around 1.5moa! We tried several loads, some factory, some his hand-loads, accuracy was all about the same. That should eliminate the ammo as the culprit. He removed the bolt from the gun and wow it was like the clouds parted and a beam from heaven shown down, a broken gas ring! Well we replaced the rings and our hopes were quickly evaporated since the groups have yet to return to their glory days so to speak. Once I returned home and was thinking about it I removed my scope from the rifle. What I found was that my receivers finish has been worn clean off in one particulate spot. This scope comes off just about every time I return home from the range as one of the areas I shoot is very very dust and in order to clean it I remove the scope and blast the gun off with compressed air. Those marks were not there last week. My fear is that the mount is moving, why else would the finish be worn off? Anyone seen issues with a BOBRO mount moving around?

Do you have another scope and mount you can test with? Have you cleaned it good? Can you test with factory loaded ammo to see if its maybe your loads?

I can try a different scope/mount combo and I think that will be the next step. If that changes things I'll never hear the end of it. My buddy told to buy a Mark 4 and LaRue mount, so I got the BOBRO and SS HD.

You have to eliminate each component. Trying the different mount and scope will only tell you if your current mount OR scope is having issues, the next step it it was would be to put the known scope in the unknown rings or the known rings with the unknown scope and see which combo leads you to your culprit. From the sound of the wear from the mount sounds like it could be the likely culprit but I'd check it all.
