It's surprising how easily they scratch. People are already posting pix after less than 24 hours of the backs and sides of their phones. Just seems like a poor design decision. Even Cerakote, which is the most abrasion-resistant metal coating you can get short of ones that chemically ion-bond within the surface will scratch. I got samples of it on small sheets of aluminum (similar to the iPhone case) and could bend them into a tube without effecting the coating, but a screwdriver blade easily gouged through it. That may have something to do with the substrate softness. I noticed Cerakote on steel did not come off as easily.
One thing I like about all newer smartphones is the toughness of the glass. I made the mistake several years ago of hiking with a new GPS in my pocket along with car keys. I had to buff the screen surface out, then purchase a protective cover.
