Skip sent me a link to PCP Ammunition Co. LLC that makes Polymer cased ammo.  They currently have defense contracts for .308 and precision 50cal rnds.  I didn't think Polymer could be used without really gumming up the lands...

Interesting concept!  Anybody else have any experience or knowledge of polymer casings?  Dan??

I guess in ten yrs brass pistol and rifle cases will be as scarce as brass shotgun hulls...........
When a guy brought 150 rds of 00 and 000 all brass Winchester 12ga in the shop a few yrs ago I about peed myself tryin not to show too much interest. I got em and to me they are like gold.

Shoot!! In a few yrs all you'll need is an injection mold set up and you will be able to make just about anything!!! Make a plaster cast of what you want, melt down the wore out stuff and make new. If it blows your arm off don't worry the obamacare prosthetics will fix ya right up!! Clown

Forgive the rant!!! I'm old school to the core and some of this plastic stuff is a real burr under my saddle.

Why would polymer casings gum up the lands?  The bullet is of conventional construction.

Something along the line of burning powder attacking/vaporizing inside of casing.  Like using extremely dirty powder....

even then -- would they be reloadable?. even if they had metal inserts in the base, to with stand the stress of the extractor, and provide enough tension to hold the primer,  I doubt if the neck tension would be tight enough to hold the bullet. I'm guessing the main reason the military is interested is the over reduction in round wt., both for any one carrying them and transportation.
I consider the artificial limb thing a positive change, the weapon can then be built into the limb, and you wouldn't need a concealed weapons permit.

I think if you refer back to REMF's Cordoba Dove hunt he show's that all ammunition used down there was solid plastic hulls.

reloaded a lot of active, the ones I had steel insert in the rim area. still doesn't answer the reloading questions. without reloading -- shooting as a sport will die.
