Hey everyone, I have been working on a custom mauser for a while now and so far everything has turned out really well. I have decided that I want to reblue the action when I get the barrel blued for the first time, but before rebluing I would like to polish out a couple rough spots and give the surface of the steel of smoother more refined finish. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of this they could share, or perhaps a couple good links to some information they have used in the past?

I dont know if what I want to do can be accomplished with steel wool and sandpaper, or if I need to get a polishing grinder etc. I'm pretty decent with woodworking and refinishing, but this will be my first real endeavor into working with the steel elements of one of my rifles.

Thanks ahead of time,
Michael

Use a buffing wheel. Pumice paste such as rubbing compund. It can be accomplished with steel wool and a lot of elbow grease.
