Guys looking for help finding a set of pocket bunks. They will be used year round sun up to sun down, hiking, hinting, scouting and travel. I have a pair of Leopold gold ring 8x32 I love but they are just to Damn heavy and big. Price range is $ to $$$. Thanks for any opinions.

I just shipped a set of mint Zeiss 8x20B binoculars to SWFA as a trade in which they should receive Monday or Tuesday.  These date from 1995, were purchased new and have seen little use.  Keep an eye out on the sample list or call Dillon @ SWFA later in the week.  Optical quality is very good but they were just too small for my face.  The B designation means they work equally well with and without glasses. Included is the factory leather belt/pocket case and strap.  Whatever they price them at should be very competetive compared to current prices and limited selection of minis.

The best pocket bino I've used so far is the Swarovski 8x25 CL-Pocket.  It has a very nice view, proper eyecups that rotate up and remain solidly in place when extended, and a very precise focus wheel that is much easier to turn than the ones on the Leica UV HD's.

The 20mm's from Leica, Zeiss, and Nikon are very good too, but unless small size is the utmost priority, a 25mm will do better for your more or less all-round purposes.

This sorta comes down to how small you want them.

The smallest would somethign with a 20mm objective and there Leica Ultravid 8x20 is easily my favourite.

25mm objective binos do give an advantage as the light dims and the above mentioned Swaro CL 8x25 are excellent.

The Swaro CL 8x25 are great. The new Ziess Terra 8x25 looks interesting also.

Late to the show but FWIW: for years I've used Kowa 10X25's that I absolutely love. Sturdy and no BS design. A little touchy (fast) focus. FleaBay at times has good deals on them from an outfit that sells their demo's. They've gotten seriously wet on moose hunts and have never failed. My only complaint is low light but, duh!, of course.
