ccoker you are the MAN thank you!!!!!!!

KB i have looked at the site representations over and over again, thanks.

It's not the same though, as seeing the actuall look of it. Knowing of course a picture thru a scope can't give you clarity etc, but the reticle can be judged that way.

I found a pic thru a Zeiss #4 on google images, a couple actually. But no Meopta.

I read on another site someone saying the Meopta had a sort of soft filtering effect that made it less clear than it could be? Than the CQ. Either of you guys seen anything to that effect?

This site is great by the way, i want to thank you guys a bunch, i was thinking about it yesterday and for a guy like me with limited available resources and no big name stores.

It's really priceless. So there's that.

Pictures are always appreciated, but a picture through a scope is not a very valid method of determining optical utility of the scope...  may be nice, but don't mean much about how it will "look" to your eyes.

This is taken with an iPhone
Tree is 100 yards away
The board is what I use for checking reticle subtension data
You can see the trees outside of the scope on the right at 200 yards.
This is the view off my backporch

You can see a building in the scope view on the left side, that is right at 300
(scope not mounted on gun!)

There are lines on the left every 1"

Lines on the right are 3.6" or 1 mil

There is 4" between the center crosshair intersection and the start of the thick bars.

This is a loaner scope from Meopta that I ran several hunts with.
I could easily take clean shots on deer at 200 yards that were invisible to my naked eye.

Their scopes have great contrast and detail.

Thanks

Thanks again, that was exactly what i needed. Great shot of the reticle.

After long deliberation, and after reading your write up on the VX-R. I think thats the way im going to go.

I know the Meopta might be better optically, but i think i like the VX-R reticle better and it's a Leupold, that means something to the folks around here.

From what i can figure, the Leupold isn't far bahind.?.

Hope its the right choice, not like i can afford to change my mind ya know.

Tomorrow is payday

The VXR is a damned good scope as well

My advise is to never mount a new scope until you have had a few days and evenings to play with it.

Buying from a good dealer like SWFA that will help you with an exchange is key.

So let me ask you something else if you don't mind.

Have you compared the VX-r #4 reticle and the duplex? What would you get if you were buying one?

Personal preference
I think with the ability to light up the center dot the "need" for a bold #4 is lessened for low light use.

Well, i tried to drop the hammer on the VX-R, mounts/rings and bc covers yesterday. But looks like I have to wait to get credit on the mount /rings i had ordered with the first scope i ordered that never showed up.
Mailed them out yesterday, i should have thought of that sooner damn it.
Im going with the 3-9x40 with the #4
