First, I like Tikka rifles, I own several now and have owned several more, all were very good guns.  I said I don't put custom ammo through them (other than hand loads), but I never said the Tikka sucked.
Next, the scope sucks. Sorry.
Next, I never said that 260, in general, or Corbon 260, in particular, sucked.  I owned a 260, it was incredibly accurate, mild recoil, ammo was relatively easy to find and very easy to reload.
Next, where "ammo" and 'cartridge" differ - at least for this thread, I cannot say.  I can say with certainty I have not used "cartridge" in this thread.
Next, Corbon makes good stuff, I have not disparaged them at all, in this thread or elsewhere.

Lastly, for the cheap seats: your reading comprehension of our language does indeed suck.  My guess is you hear what you want to hear (which explains the almost constant misrepresentations of others' words), and you say what makes sense to you - but which makes no sense to others employing critical thinking or basic principles of written English.

You made statements regarding your communication with your wife (or your lack of capacity to accurately communicate with her via text), that was relevant in my response.

Lastly, for any passers-by, my concern - and doubtlessly the concern of other regulars - is that this practice of skimping on rifle and scope to have custom ammo made up for said rifle is asinine. Tikkas shoot well, but I would NEVER invest the kind of money you have in a factory barrel from any off-the-shelf maker.  Not only does barrel quality go hand-in-hand with ammo quality, it shouldn't need to be said (but might, for clarity) that some barrels are incapable of great accuracy regardless of how much money you spend having someone make custom ammo.

I have no problem whatsoever with someone wanting the best possible accuracy, and even paying a premium to get it; however, paying a premium for custom ammo at the expense of glass and rifle - all while great factory ammo is available - makes no sense to me. The Tikka is a good gun, glad the ammo works well; I'm just still not clear your obvious money-saving priority is met by very expensive ammo, when the intended use doesn't require it.

It was supposed to be somewhat funny not a rant.
As I said there is very little difference on price between as I pointed out before between Corbon and say... Win supreme ammo and the corbon is fitted to my rifle the Win. not. The service is a one time cost for each rifle.
I may try reloading if it makes you feel better.
As far as the scope and rifle it can be shot with a better than 1/4 group by a professional. I can shot only slightly better than an inch with the same gun, ammo and range. Therefore the gun and scope both are beyond my shooting ability. I am not a professional shooter like you I don't shoot a whole lot of rounds and never will.
The "money-saving priority" $400-$500 gun I can't shoot it to its potential - $500 scope the same
Ammo only slightly more than factory but, where the saving come in is the time involved of finding out what factory the rifle "likes" along with saving time with zeroing and confirming zero in their range.
No way with the slight/if any savings from buying factory could you buy an alpha scope maybe the sales tax on one but that is about it.
I am not saying "practice of skimping on rifle and scope to have custom ammo made up" just there is more than one way to skin a cat that being a light weight, compact, accurate, simple, super reliable, inexpensive setup for highplains/mountain states game that anyone can have done in a very short time.

On Feb 1. Got the rifle.
Feb 2 has  got the rifle back from Corbon after getting the service work and the ammunition fabricated and then to shoot 250 rounds at PDs.
 (Our service includes:
Meticulous cleaning of your gun and barrel to remove years of copper build up
Check the scope, mounts and rings to ensure they are tight and properly seated
Inspect the barreled action to ensure it is properly bedded in your rifle stock
Custom Ammo loaded and designed expressly for the specific task*
Sight in your gun for maximum point blank range
Gun returned with test targets and ballistic print out up to 1000 yards for rifles, 500 yards for pistols
All work and loads kept on file for future reference
All guns will be shipped UPS and insured

*Loaded ammunition is available for both rifles and pistols at an additional cost*

You must be like a son to the guys at Corbond for them to drop everything going on for that fast of service. I am very Impressed

From what I get the $450 is for the workup.  The ammunition is $47.89 for 20 rounds at 2009 prices from the Corbon catalog I have.
This is $2.39 per round. He said thousands of rounds so at 2000 rounds
2000 X 2.39 =                          $4,780.00
Plus the workup fee              + $   450.00
$5,230.00   He has had this done for 3 rifles this spring =$15,690.00
Plus this one.   $20,920.00  I am not sure I have spent that much for all the ammunition I have ever reloaded and shot. No ever shot.
No wonder he has to cut corners on the scope.

Ok. First I had my other two tikkas worked up last year one mid summer with 750 rounds and then the other in the fall 600 rounds. The price you listed is for just 20 rounds with no work-up.
I picked up the rifle on the 1st on the on the 2nd picked up a few boxes of ammo from corbon to try out on PD's and to arrange an ammo workup. Was called afternoon of the 10th that my ammo was done. Way off on your numbers.

The service is $450 for the first one I have had three done. Will have one done this spring for my savage.
I have bought a few thousand loads so the price is lower than Win. factory loads.

$450 for how many rounds?

I think that is just for custom load development and does not include any ammo.

1000

Are you saying you paid $450 for a 1000 rounds of custom 260 ammo???

More I read, you can't keep your story straight. My math looks pretty close from my reading. Much better than your inconsistant postings.

I said I have bought a few thousand rounds from Corbon over the last few years including the bulk with the work-ups therefore not paying the listed per 20 price.

I know that for 260 in bulk it is $100/50 rounds. So you have $2450 in custom load development and ammo for your 260. That works out to $49/box of 20. Which works out to very much the same price as the standard Corbon 260.

With the business I have given them it is less than 49 a box and less than a box of Win supreme factory at cabelas -less the work up-. I am not giving out the price I payed people have to work out their own deal if they chose to purchase Corbon ammo.

rustic,

I don't really care where you get your ammo, or how much you spend on ammo vs. glass, or the rest of the circle-j***ing that has been going on in this thread.

But,

I would like to see what 1000 rounds of custom 260 Corbon looks like.  Can you post a pic of it all together?  Like maybe a pyramid or something.
