I heard a squawking sound out on our deck, went to look and there was a young Peregrine falcon perched on the railing. I went to get the camera but it flew off into the neighbor's trees and then across their street. I've only seen a couple over the years and never in town. They have some neat plumage. I wish I could have got a pic.

If we're not suppose to eat animals...how come they're made of meat?

I love them. There was a news story on a Raleigh NC TV station a few years ago, that showed that there were peregrines living/nesting in downtown high rises. They reported that they lived mostly off pigeons, that live there too.

Took this pic of a male peregrine that was living at The Carolina Raptor Center outside Charlotte.
He had lost part of a wing in an accident.

That's a nice picture. I mentioned it to a neighbor yesterday and he said that one has been around...and he's noticed fewer pigeons in the area. Not that there are many around here compared to downtown but I haven't seen any for a while!

Being here at the Port I see falcons often. The cool thing is to see them make a kill. I've seen 3 kills; 2 doves and a robin. The last one I saw happened almost on the hood of my truck. Knocked the dove out of the air and then ran it down on the ground and started eating it until a tug came by and it flew off with the kill to the top of a building.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.
