I have a chance to buy a Pentax Whitetail Unlimited 3-9x40 for $180.00 new. It has the twilight plex. I know these are USA made Burris Fullfield II model scopes with Pentax name. I have a browning 3-9x40 on my muzzleloader that I like ok but I was considering replacing it with the Pentax due to the fact that it has a thicker reticle. Am I right in assuming the twilight plex is a heavier plex reticle than a standard Burris plex reticle or is it the same thing? Also, are the brownings optics going to be better than the Pentax or about the same? Is my Browning a better scope?

I believe the Browning scope is built by Bushnell.  I don't know if it is built from their Elite 3200 line or a lower priced line.  I don't know what to tell you in comparing the two scopes.  I like my Fullfield scopes but I also like my Elite 3200's.

I have a Pentax Whitetails Unlimited and I like it a lot. Very stout scope.  Optics are good, the plex is pretty thick.

Don't quote me on this but I have been told the the Browning scopes are pretty much Bushnell 4200 Elites, so if that is the case then the Browning will be slightly better optics.  I have a 4200 Elite and it is brighter then the Pentax WTU.  However, that is still a very good buy for the Pentax.

Its a T/C Encore. But I am thinking about getting an Omega. I dont usually shoot more than 100 yrds. an dont really need a holdover reticle much. Besides the Pentax is a little cheaper. Do you think the Nikon Omega scope is better than a Pentax Whitetail Unlimited?

I used a 1-4 Leupold muzzleloader/shotgun scope on my TC MZ and my 870 slug gun when I lived back east. Heavy duplex and 50 yd paralex setting. Worked very well and is still woking on my 700 custom 400 H&H Magnum.

Didn't someone here state that Brownings were 4200 glass in the 3200 body?
