Hi folks!

What is your opinion about the optical and mechanical quality of PENTAX Lightseeker riflescopes?

Are they worth their money?

Has anyone of y'all first-hand experience with those scopes?

PENTAX is a optical company of great renown. Especially their photographic products are highly regarded.

But their riflescopes are virtually unknown in Germany.

I'm interested in their 6-24X50 model. Is it any good? Or should I prefer the ZEISS Conquest 6,5-20X50?

Thanks for your input!

GREETZ from Krautland Cool

As I understand it, the Lightseeker 30 series are made by Burris for Pentax. I would think the Lightseeker 30 would have Pentax lens' in it. Many believe the Burris Black Diamond are the same as the Lightseeker, and this may very well be true, but does the Black Diamond series use Pentax lenses? This, I don't know.

zeiss - without a doubt.

for the money - i don't think pentax are up to par compared to zeiss.

elite 4200 by bushnell is also great for the money.

what kind of gun are you putting it on?

WELCOME to optics talk.

I'd like to mount that scope on a custom rifle in 6,5X47 LAPUA caliber with a 26" Lothar Walther bullbarrel.

I have owned 1 Pentax Light Seeker scope, and it was a decent scope, but not in the same class as the Conquest or any Zeiss scope for that matter.  As stated, Pentax scopes are made by Burris, or at least everything but the glass is.

Sheesh, in that case why not go for some good Euro made precision scope?

on that side of the pond - i would go zeiss, meopta meostar, swarovski, IOR or kahles.

OR you could try this illuminated scope by lightstream - i have one and it's very very nice
glass and mechanics - heavy, but good for long range if you need it.

my 2 cents.

Wow those look a lot like a bushnell 6500.  I wonder who stole who's idea here.

Lightstream..............never heard of that gizmo. Where are those scopes manufactured? China? Japan? UK?

The ZEISS Conquest and the MEOPTA Meostar scopes are really high on my short list of suitable glass.

I just thought that the PENTAX scopes might be another option.

In Germany, IOR scopes are just as unheard of as those from PENTAX. That's really baffling, because the IOR scopes are made in Europe (Romania). In the USA they are bestseller and in Germany very few shooters are aware of their existence! Whacko

Hereabout most riflemen use ZEISS, SCHMIDT & BENDER, LEUPOLD, MEOPTA and NIKON.

O.K..............that pretty much solves the question!

No PENTAX for my rifle!

the lightstream is top quality and made in japan - i would put them in line w/ 4200 glass quality - the construction is excellent and the illuminated reticle is very similar to the one on the 50mm elite 4200. The lowprofile turrets are excellent and the side focus is quite nice.

As for who copied who, i think that lightstream has had these out for a while.

Hollowpoint, is the price of the lightstream comparable to the zeiss conquest or a lot cheaper?

The CONQUEST 6,5-20X50 costs 895 € with the Z-Plex reticle.

That Lightstream sells for 489 Brit-pounds = 647 €. S&H not included. Add 19% German import sales tax = 770 €. With S&H the total amount ist close to 800 €.

That's quite a stiff price for a totally unknown optics brand. Shocked

trust me, i know what you mean -

i like the conquest for the money - if illuminated reticles and long range use is a concern - the lightstream is worth looking at. it holds it's own w/ the big boys. Your import tax is a bad one though.

it's hard to beat ANYthing ZEISS. great products.
