I'm having trouble choosing a new scope for my Savage 300WSM.  Based on my budget ($+/-200) I have picked 3-4 potentials, the Pentax Pioneer 4.5-14x42, the Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40, or the Swift Premier in either 4-12x40 or 4.5-14x42.  I have also looked into refurb Nikon Buckmasters, but would like more than a 90day warranty (though likely will never need one).  Shots will probably max out at 250 yards, but have the opportunity, especially on antelope, over 300 yards.

Right now Swift and Pentax are on top because they are known manufacturers and offer a Parallax adjustment.  I also like there no nonsense warranty.  From what I hear is Vortex is has excellent optic quality and warranties, but no Parallax adjustment.

I just ordered a Diamondback today......... so I won't know for awhile.......... and since it's still SNOWING here and the temps are still in the teens........ it might be a few weeks before I get to the range and do some real comparisons!

Welll I opted for Door #5.  I ordered a Bushnell Limited edition 4-12x40AO from a different shooting supplier (sorry SWFA).  They state that these scopes are basically Elite 3200 without the markings.  Anyway the price was right ($139) so if it doesn't meet my expectations I can mount it on a .22 and go plinking.

I will probably get a swift if this one doesn't work.
