Gents,

England calling...... one of my sad hobbies in life is collecting Pecar Berlin scopes.

It is a long shot but I wondered if any of you folk had a list of factory serial numbers and manufacture dates. I know such lists exist and know of a chap in the north of the UK who has such - however he (for some reason known only to him) is not willing to share.

As I say a long shot but just maybe.....

Cheers,

Jason

HMMM, have you tried contacting any collectors. I would venture that this fellow is one. Which is why he won't part with the info. Pawn shops might also have that kind of info. I say might.

Because it is so esoteric I am not sure how one identifies a fellow collector! I have placed a few threads on some UK/Euro forums - but to no avail.

The chap who has the list is an 'evilbay' scope dealer hence his concern for competitive advantage no doubt!

Thanks for the suggestions though - if anything else springs to mind drop me a line!

That's a nice hobby you have there ,zigliss. Pecar- Berlin is one of my favorite makes of scope. Too bad they went out of business. I believe I'll hold on to mine for a while. They never caught on here in the 'States. Good luck to you on your search. Let us know if you find the info you seek. That may be some useful info to me sometime. Until last night I owned two. But upon the passing of a dear friend, I just acquired six more. I intend for these to become heirlooms.

Do you mean the 4th or 2nd amendment?  Just curious.

Thanks Huntmaster. Drop me a note with the types you have inherited - sounds like a good friend who understood what a valuable legacy means!

What I admire most about PB's is that long after I am gone my great grandchildren will be using my Pecar scopes.

Morgan Evans here in Alaska. I'm happy to find some discussion
on Pecar scopes. I have an 8x43 Pecar-Berlin that was probably
purchased in the 50's when we lived in Germany although it may
be from the 60s. It is new in the box. I'm going to mount it on a Winchester
pre-1964 model 70 .243.
I considered mounting it on a .300 win mag but because of it's age
I'm not sure it can handle the shock.
I'll record the serial number and drop back by to see if I can get
the information to narrow down the manufacture period.

Thanks,
Morgan E.

There is a vast amount of Pecar info posted here by a UK collector, a great resource:
