I recently purchased a Mannlicher Schoenauer with a Pachmayr Lo Swing mount and then I matched it with an older Redfield 4x.  When I went to sight the rifle in, the shots were all over the paper.  I swung the mount to the side and fired shots that grouped well together, so I am pretty sure it is the mount or the scope.  Does anyone have any experience with this combination that might help?  I appreciate it...B

The Pachmayr Lo-Swing mount was very reliable, when I had it mounted on a Remington 742 in .30-06.  It was good for 1 1/2 inch groups with the old Redfield Widefield 2-7X scope aboard.  If you have the knurled knobs tightened up, it clamps down well on the receiver, and all the feet are all solidly seated, the mount is probably okay.  If not, then the mount may need to be adjusted to the rifle.   I recall having to file a couple of the seating "feet" in accordance with the instructions to make the mount fit my rifle.

As for the scope, Redfield made a good product back when it was competing with the big boys (Leupold, for example).  Try another scope and see what happens.  This should tell you what the problem is.
