Hi from the newbie.

While shopping for a scope for my new TacSol X-Ring (10/22) I stumbled across a new Vortex Viper Gen2 PST 3-15 44mm for less than $600!  It has a discontinued millrad reticle.  I new it was a little long/heavy/magnification than most put on a .22lr but I wasn't finding many decent quality AO scopes so I bought it.  Since it is FFP I don't have to use full power, right?  I'll be doing mostly plinking and target with some small varmint in 20-150 yd range.

Did I make a mistake?

Correct.

And no, if you are happy with it who cares what anyone else thinks.  But then I have a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15 on my CZ 455 PVT. I have it mainly because I dial for correction.

BTW Welcome to the OT!

No mistake... nice scope, good FOV, perhaps a bit heavier than some like but I would be willing to take the weight for the features.  And what's wrong with being able to see small varmints better at 100-150 yards shooting with a .22???
I had a 6-18 on my Ruger 10/22 for years... only took it off because it was a cheaper model scope and the glass began to dim.  Still OK in bright light, but not very good in low light.
You have a fine scope for all your stated requirements.
Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

If you like it that's good. It's your gun!  You don't get grades like school.
