If you're in the middle of Africa and your scope craps out what are you gonna do?

What if you're in Tibet hunting one of those Markhor goats? (license costs $100,000....)

Another American hunts Markhor in Pakistan, pays Rs20mn for permit

Now why in the Sam hell would I pay $100,000 to shoot an old goat.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Morning all,

Looks a nice day here in Merry Old London.

I do enjoy shooting iron sights but they do make fitting a moderator / silencer harder. Also, vs a decent optic, not really a lot of comparison for ease of shooting.

Mornin gents

Clear skies and in the low 50's. May get up to the low 70's with clouds.

Here's one for you Ed. A friend of mine and I were hunting on my place one day. I had a Schmidt Rubin K31 with the iron sights and he had a bolt action with a 4x Leupold scope.
I spotted a buck on a hill side on the other side of the valley from us. He was about 200yds from us and bedded down. There was no way I was going to take the shot. I hadn't shot the K31 with hunting loads at that distance, and didn't think it would be an ethical shot, so I pointed the buck out to my friend. He rested his rifle on his folded up jacket in the fork of a high tension power tower, took careful aim and took the shot and made the hit.
With a different rifle, I may have taken the shot with the iron sights, but I was just taking that K31 for a walk, and not serious about hunting.

Morning folks,

Quieter week this week, sorting out a new work contract which hopefully will be a bit smoother than the last one. Gives me a chance to have various niggling things sorted out on the cars. And maybe do some reloading.

Well Bud, I suppose you think we are happy to hear from you. Well we are, even if you don't come around much anymore.

Good day gents

Remember Scrummy, "Keep your powder dry".

In the 40's here for a start. Only getting into the mid 60's today, but the sky is clear.

May have to wait and see if that hurricane is going to come close to us. We need rain, and I need to sew some grass seed, but I don't want it to get washed away, or become bird food.

Morning folks,

Touched 40F here over night but we might hit 60F here. Bright, sunny and breezy but cool in the wind. Decidedly feels like Autumn.

Will indeed keep the powder dry, BF. Didn't even get round to priming yesterday.
