Hi folks, A frosty and foggy morning here in London. So to answer people’s questions. Muntjac are an invasive species in the UK and damage understory foliage which really helps birds. They Also love getting at crops like turnips / swedes and sugar beat. Muntjac breed very quickly: -
7 month cycle -
Females can get pregnant from 8 months and can conceive
within days of giving birth -
Breed all year round So, control is a major issue for numbers as females can reproduce 3 times in 2 years. Sizewise - Adults are 10kg (22lb) to 18kg (40lb) and 44cm (17”) to 52cm (20”) at shoulder (And in fact the larger end of those measurements is quite rare). ATB, Scrummy |

When I was in New Zealand visiting my daughter and SIL went turkey hunting. Over there almost all introduced species are considered invasive and open for hunting. No season or bag limits on turkey, male or female. They were everywhere in farm country (we were on South Island) and no need for camo or blinds. When some of the locals heard we were hunting turkeys they asked what we were going to do with them and looked absolutely shocked when we said we were going to eat them.

Howdy gents
Is there a season on muntjac in England?

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Good day gents
Craig, maybe your rooster is too smart to come and crow on a cold Canadian morning. My dogs get me up at the crack of tomorrow to go out and then get fed. Once that's done, I go back to bed until it's today.

Afternoon gents
Started off Rainy, warm (low 60's), and windy. Now it's clear, warm, and very windy. Ed, lots of places have seasons on invasive species. It doesn't make sense, but it happens.
