Mornin gentsCoffee

The weather is almost the same as yesterday, except colder.

Bud, I give Mrs BF many reasons to kiss me. It's just that a lot of the kisses are with a skillet.

Power went out today... typical in the rain in this area.  Several hours later it came back on.  Then the electrician showed up to fix the screwup the last electrician made when installing power to our warm-floor in the kitchen... burned up a $200.00 thermostat/controller.  The last guy really screwed up... had several things wired wrong and did not tighten the electrical connections.  All working fine, now.  If I did not have poured concrete walls, probably would have burned the house down.

Hmmmm,???LUCKY???   I guess!

Why oh why is it so hard to find reputable services any more?!?!!?

Granted, it's way too easy for Service personnel to lie, mislead, take to the cleaners.... the uneducated.

I've been lucky enough to be successful at repairing most on my own.  Furnace, Well, Septic System,Plumbing and electrical.  I'm sure I've saved myself Thousands of dollars with DIY repairs.

Just keeping a spare igniter on hand for the Furnace is worth it's weight in gold...

Bottom line is a Service Company is loosing money on a call if they don't find something expensive wrong so the temptation is always there for them to cheat.....

It's cold, and overcast with rain on the way. The river is on the rise and we are under a flash flood watch.

Mornin Gents.  Cold and rainy here, too.  Supposed to hit 75* over the weekend, then more cold and wet next week.

Hey! I heard about this new thing that was invented by a bunch of old guys. It's called global warming, and it's supposed to warm the planet up SO much, that even the polar bears can get rid of their coats.
We could sure use some of that here right now. It's not supposed to hit 30 on Friday.

Hello folks,

Nice and sunny but rather windy day here.

Had a day on the range today and mostly shot .22lr and .223 Rem but took the .44 out just for a bit of fun and to see if I can get the iron sights shooting right. (Running out of elevation adjustment so been playing around with front / rear sight heights - more to do on that).

Anyway, was chatting to an older gent (70s if he's a day and turns out he's not used a lever action before).

Anyway, we popped onto one of the quieter ranges for some shooting and the below happened.

I put one down (highest shot) just to see if the scope wasn't totally out of whack.

This chap David then puts a couple down but has taken his glasses off to shoot and says I can't see very well and not a great group. I explain I have no correction in the scope and usually shoot it fine with my glasses on.

He puts his glasses back on and shoots the 3 shots just below the bullseye at 50 yds just resting off his elbows...

Think I've just been outshot by someone virtually old enough to be my grandfather with my own rifle...

Also collected my first every Auto 5 today. Needs rebluing / cerakoting but looks good.

Only one blemish, RO didn't like something myself and older gent above were doing and got upperty. Then got dressed down by 2 senior ROs / committee members in the club! Ha - justice done swiftly ;)

Scrummy
Was sure I had a point when I started this post...

Mornin gentsCoffee

Overcast, just above freezing and going to stay there til tonight. Very damp after yesterday's rain. Just a miserable day.
It rained a lot, but not hard, so my driveway and ditch did survive the rain, but just barely. I need to clear a few leaf dams out of the ditch before the next big rain.

Said goodbye for the last time to a police officer that was in my recruit class yesterday. He was a Deputy Sheriff when he passed last Saturday, and had just been awarded Deputy of the Year for his Department. Like myself, he was a 70's cop, he was also a real character. He drank too much, he smoked too much, and you never had to wonder what was on his mind or where he stood. He was the guy you didn't want to be standing next to when the chief was around, but if there was going to be trouble you wanted him there. You couldn't leave your wife or girlfriend alone with him for a minute without him getting into trouble. He was very active in the FOP, I don't think I ever went to a meeting or event that he wasn't at.
His casket was closed and draped with the American Flag with a deputy from the Honor Guard standing guard. I was going to go up to the casket and tell him we a good time and a good ride ever since we started recruit class in 1977, but I started to tear up, and I knew that was something Scotty wouldn't want, so I just said goodbye Scott. After all, he's not here, he's at roll call for choir practice.
