Checked out Optisan scopes and binos a few years back.  Nice stuff.

I just bought the combo package.  $50 cheaper and includes the mount also!  http://swfa.com/Optisan-1-4x24-Mamba-SWFA-SALT-Combo-P50669.aspx

I've got it mounted and it looks and feels good.  I haven't had a chance to shoot it and sight it in yet, but it has bright, clear optics and the illuminated recticle is visible even in bright sunlight when turned up to max.

The only downsides I can see so far are a lack of scope caps and it adds a whole pound to the weight of my rifle.  The weight I'll have to deal with and hopefully.....a set of Butler Creek flip up caps will fit nicely.

Have one due here today, will give it a good ringing out and will report back soon.  Suppose to be nice.  CFII said they are made in japan and have had great reviews!

I've really been debating on getting this scope.

I'm a tightwad, and while I occasionally want to purchase a cheap scope (used to), I'm getting to where I buy one good scope, and switch if absolutely needed.....

However my AK needs a scope and I haven't been able to justify putting a $200+ scope on it (Or having the cash to do so).

I think I'll have to try one, hate getting something without any reviews, but there's a few plusses:

#1.  It does have the $50 SALT mount, which I had planned on getting eventually anyway.

#2.  I doubt it would be much worse than a Millet DMS-1 which get so-so reviews.

#3.  I have the odds of getting a good scope for decent money.

#4.  For my AK, it seems ideal, 3.5-3" eye relief, the shorter the better on my AK, and some, like my Nikon Monarch are juuuust almost too much eye relief for the mount.   I realize the BDC is for .223/5.56, but for AK ranges, that illuminated dot would be all I need/want.

I'd like to, I trust his reviews.

I'm just wondering how long their sale/discount will last.  Been on quite awhile now.
