cheaptrick and I have been burning up the PM's for the last few days.

To say it was a "heated exchange" would be putting it very mildly.

(Trick, your mama know you talk like that?)    KIDDING...JUST KIDDING!!!

He's a pretty reasonable guy. I told him I'd check my ego when I log in here, apologize for "kicking in the door" my first few posts and behave more appropriately.

(Team Optimus Prime and the Supreme Court are still in the process of defining the "checking ego" and "appropriate behavior" clauses.)

Until which time the High Court renders a decision, I'll be on my best behavior.

Being a All Knowing super hero isn't what it's cracked up to be you know.    It used to be fun in the late 80's!! Those were the days.............

Sky rocketing cost of super hero insurance.

(Ever tried to get insured from a photon blaster from a Decepticon??) FORGET ABOUT IT!!!

Competing with illegal alien super hero's. (Supposedly, these guys do the super hero work that American super hero's don't want to do.)  Don't get me started on that one!!

Mrs. Prime on my back all the time about spending more time at home in Cybertron, and trying to raise the little Primes.....Trying to save the universe can make anybody "surly" at times. I'm sure a lot of guys here can relate.

Nice forum you have here.

I...(deep breath)..apologize for my behavior........

I remain...Optimus Prime.

As a general rule, newbies kinda hang back and get an accurate picture of the landscape before they start firing live rounds.

I've noticed a new crop of experts arriving recently who know everything and presume everyone else knows nothing; it is an alarming trend.

I haven't been around long, but long enough to know that the more I learn,. the more acutely aware I am of how little I actually know.

Prime, maybe consider losing the sarcasm and accepting that you know very little - though you think you know much.

Better to be silent and thought wise than to open your mouth and proven a fool.

Aw come on guys.....

He did apologize. How about we give him a chance to behave before we try to provoke him again? :)

Who are you to say this about him?  I agree with graysteel.  At least he apologized for being a little out of line and wants to be a contributor, which is more than we can say about many others who continue the personal attacks and name calling.

Put quite eloquently Rancid,

I doubt there is much you have to learn Friend, I have found most of what you say to be wise and on the money. That being said I've done my impersonation of Dick Cheney a time or two I'm sure. We all have our own tastes and experiences, being objective is sometimes, well subjective.

I have enjoyed reading your views, and hearing your experiences, just as I have others, especially the comedic aspect that can be found.

You have my respect, as do many others here. So with that,

If in any of my Dick Cheney moments, I have offended any one of you, I offer my sincerest apologies.

Optimus, You will find no finer group of experienced, wise and knowledgable enthusiasts anywhere, keep this in mind and all will be fine.

Optimus,

I think the main problem here is that, until you get to know someone on the board and really understand their style of posting, it's easy to mistake sarcasm, satire, savage sense of humor, "smartassedness," etc. as arrogance and personal attacks.  Without the aid of voice inflection, delivery, and mannerisms, it's hard to convey the proper context of one's statements through text on a computer screen, which is why God invented emoticons.

I have a dry sense of humor to some degree and tend to be a smartass at times, so there have been times when my posts were taken as attacks when I was just trying to be funny.  So, I can totally understand if your posts were taken the wrong way, as I too was taken aback by some of your statements in the Leupold thread.  I do see some clever wit in your posts when I go back and read them.  At least, I sincerely hope that was your intent.

I believe most people here are pretty forgiving if they know your intent is good.  Understand that there has been a certain individual who keeps getting banned from this forum (and a couple others as well) and coming back under new usernames who is a certified troll, so we're a little suspicious of new members who announce their arrival by "kicking the door open."

Personally, for the time being at least, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're just trying to interject a little humor, which I can appreciate -- unless you give us good reason to suspect otherwise.  On that note, welcome!
