Hi; I don't have very much Air Rifle experience, but is what you read about all failing include Leupold EFR, Elite 4200, Burris R/A Series??

I have some cheap air rifles for my children and used BSA but they didn't last very long.

DKC1976 I dont know a lot about air guns. but I do have a winchester 1000x .177 break-barrel that has a very cheap tasco 3-9 on top that works fine.Shooting 100' to 125'.But for a pellet gun it hits my shoulder 3x harder than my 22cal rim that has no feel still the cheap scope has never given me a problem and it's a ton of fun.

dkc1976,

I recently purchased a 350 Magnum. I have been using a BSA Contender 6-24x50 scope with no problems. I have also have used a BSA Platinum Target scope on the rifle with no problems. The 350 is just getting broken in and I think I have over a 1000 rounds through it. I also have a RWS Mod 40 with a Tasco 3-9 Golden Antler air gun scope which also works fine.

My biggest problem was getting the mounts to stay put. I ended up using discontinued 2 piece RWS  C mounts. I used Blue Loctite thread locker on all mounting screws.

As far as the scopes go I called BSA before buying the Contender. They told me the scope was rated for airgun use as are most of their scopes. They are not advertised as airgun scopes unless they focus below 10M I think he said 7.5M. The 6-24 will focus to 10M for indoor shooting but not at 24x. Not a problem since 10-12x is fine for targets at 10M. The older Platinum scopes ( they have white numbers on the focus ring) focus similarly to the Contender. The newer models (gold number) not not focus as close as the Contender.

You definitely want any Air Gun scope to have AO (adjustable objective) since most of the shooting will be at relatively close distances compared to a riflescope.

I have no basis of comparison regarding the optics of the BSA or TASCO in that I have not used or owned any of the higher priced scopes. They do an excellent job for shooting targets.

                                                                                   Good Luck,

                                                                                        Joe
