I wasn't quite sure where to post this; mods please move if there is a more appropriate forum.

Is there a book out there that y'all have read and would recommend that covers optics for hunting? I realize I'm painting with a broad brush, but I figured if you have read anything worth its salt pertaining to this subject, you'll let me know.

What kind of information are you looking for in that book?

John Barseness wrote a book called "optics for the Hunter" quite some time ago.  It is a good book in terms of general principles, although the specific scopes discussed are likely very outdated.

There is plenty of information on the itnernet, but you kinda need to have an idea of what you are looking for.  I had a request to put together something for people new to riflescopes some time ago, so I put together a series of articles on Riflescope Fundamentals a little while back.  However, I was mostly aiming at people new to optical sights, not specifically hunters.

I was looking for something along the lines of Barseness' book, but I agree it's outdated.

I was just looking to increase my knowledge base, i.e., the different types of prisims used in binos and the advantages/disadvantages of each. Just advanced general knowledge, for lack of a better phrase.
