What are your thoughts/opinions on the Swarovski American series 4-12 X 50?  Will these scopes hold up on a 7mm Rem Mag rifle?

Excellent scope and yes, they will hold up for you.

That said, your probably going to see some Kahles recommendations from "Club Kahles" on this thread before too long....

good glass, solid scope.

look at the kahles KX as well. and IOR. all good values.

don't forget zeiss conquest too

pick the one that best fits your eye and rifle.

may i suggest getting a #4 reticle? it's a really good lowlight reticle for deer sized game.

welcome to the OT.

KAHLES RULES, Swaro drools!

The optical quality of the Swarovski is excellent but I put more faith in the mechanical reliability of the Kahles. This is from one unique experience, though. That Swaro now sits on a .222.

I don't know if it was the baggage gorillas, or not, but the zoom tube became loose. Sorry to be on the con side.

Doug

My neighbor was just over and we were talking about scopes and he said,

"Kahles is a subsidiary of Swarovski, so it's almost a Swarovski".

I would guess that he has a bias in favor of Swarovski.

Seeriously, thanks to everyone for their response.  I appreciate your input.

I have the 3.5-10 American and love it.  The glass is great, the adjustments are good, the ballistic reticule is great: buy without hesitation.

Haven't owned Kahles, I hear good things.  Eventually all my hunting rifles will wear Swaro - they are that good.

I have a swaro that has survived 40 years of hunting on a Weatherby mag with no problems and it is still a good scope. I do like the newer one better though.
