Would the additional rigidy offered by a one piece base set have any advantages over a two piece base set? I imagine that the trade-offs are weight and blocking the port?

If I am scoping a Rem 700 VSF in a 308 Win caliber, would it be best to use a one piece base set for reliable accuracy, or is the two piece equally good?

The scope will be a 30mm tube Leupold 111 8,5-25x50

typically for target type shooting when size and wt. aren't factors --one piece with recoil lugs are more desirable and usually more expensive..additionally you may want to consider a picatinny type which allows for more clamping force from the rings along with a substantial increase in surface area.

And a lot more leeway in fore/aft positioning of rings and scope as well....

( Picatinny is similar to but not quite exactly the same as the Weaver cross-slot style; generally interchangeable with a few exceptions.)
