My wife and I lived on an old homestead on a ranch in Converse County for two years.  We lived on the G between Douglas and Lance Creek.....26 miles from town.....nice and peaceful....had 50,000 acres to drive around on.  The Main House was seven miles away.

The ranch was 20 miles North and South----13 miles East to West......

When I was a kid only 10% of America lived on farms.  When we raised our girls on a farm out in Kansas years later, it was down to 3%....

My girls were raised in a vanishing way of life.

When my daughter Meghan was in High School, she used to help her friends drive the dump trucks to the grain elevators in town!  She didn't even have a driver's license and she really didn't know how to shift yet.  She said that they always knew who was driving by the way the truck was jumping around on the way into town!!   Bucky
