HI--have an old 1917 eddystone that I just purchased for 150$--it has been sporterized. It has a weaver sidemount--the one that has a one inch tube. It is attached to the side of the reciever with several screws.
I have a couple questions on this old mount--first, is it still being made anywhere.
secondly, My use for this ount would be paper punching with the .30/o6 and possibly deer hunting--Was planning on putting a weaver v4-8 on it or a comperable old steel tube redfield. Any comments on this set-up one way or the other? Mauserdoc

I believe that your mount was the old N mount Weaver which they don't make anymore.....the original Weaver ( El Paso, TX )  is gone....
Put a scope in it and see how it does......personally I would re-tap for top mounts, myself, and plug the old holes.....
