So just how much will I lose using an El Paso Weaver K2.5 instead of a newer VX-III or Sightron SII Big Sky in a similar power? I'm scoping a very nice Remington 600 so length, weight, and asthetics are important. The Weaver just seems to match due to being from a similar era. Other than flare control the optics really look pretty good for the age.

My K2.5 has the fine cross-hair and that would be the main drawback. If yours has the dual-X you will not see that much difference for a similar scope. There is not much else that can directly compare in todays scopes. The El Paso Weaver holds up very well.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow Now the rules have changed again. |

The Weaver should do the job.To compare it to the newer scopes of today, your looking at a disadvantage of not being able to see through the Weaver when its all fogged up when the lens is wet.Sightron Big Sky has climate control and brighter optics.
