I'm thinking about buying an older Leupold VXII 2-7x33 scope from a friend of a friend, it seems in reasonable condition for its 10 years of use and the price isn't too bad either. I'm wondering whether there's much difference between the current VXII line vs the older VXII, maybe i'd be better spending more on a new one? The elevation/windage adjustment knobs seem to be the only obvious difference. Perhaps there are major differences with tube design / quality?
I know that quite a few forum members consider Leupold to be a little overrated, I haven't owned enough decent scopes to have an opinion. The main attraction for me is the warranty and service that people have talked about. The distributor for Leupold here in Australia talked to me about service and warranty and it sounds reassuring.
Thanks for your opinions.
