Ok, I have spent 5 or 6 hours on this and a couple of other forums trying to determine if I can make this work.
I have an older, "tang mounted safety" Ruger M77 chambered in .308.  This model requires two different height rings that mount directly to the rifle's receiver through the use of Ruger's proprietary mounting system.
After much searching, I determined that the highest set of rings that I was going to be able to get for it was from Leupold.  I got their "Super High" 30mm rings that Leupold says will enable me to mount "any 50mm" scope (w 30mm tube) to the rifle.
Will these rings allow me to mount either a Accupoint or Weaver 56mm, 30mm tube to the rifle or will the objective lens bell hit the barrel?
I already own the rifle and the rings, just can't find anybody around here with a 56mm scope to try on it.
