I have an opportunity to purchase a couple of the old (25 years old) kahles helia variable scopes and wanted your opinions about how these old Kahles scopes compare with todays optics choices. I had an 8 X 56 kahles about 30 years ago that would blow away (optically) my new vari x III 3.4 X 10 I had just purchased back then ( and the leupold seemed to better my Redfield Illuminator). I never had any of the kahles variables back then, so I'm wondering how they would rank with today's choices. Has anybody still got any of old kahles variables around, or have they made comparisons to any of the new stuff? I know there are very very few scopes that can compare to my 8 X 56, but want a variable scope.
Your opinions are welcomed, especially if you've been able to compare some of the old kahles variables.
Thanks!

The only old kahles scope I remember was a sniper scope on a Steyer PSG and that was 25 yrs ago and it was an awesome scope. Some of the new lens coatings are probably more desirable but if you can get a reasonable deal on them it is probably worth having.
