Anyone here had any experience with the Nitrex TR 2 Scopes. What are they comparable to? They say they are a Weaver Super Slam Scope but with a different name. They are also on sale with a good rebate. All input is appreciated. Thanks

I bought at TR2 3-15 with illum ret a couple of months ago.  I don't have any Weavers for comparison.  The turrets are very big.  The illum knob is piggybacked onto the side parallax adjustment knob and spun much too easily out of the box.  Just putting the mounted scope into a case turned the illum on.  The green and red illum are both very usable in darkness with very low settings.  One box of shells shook the illum knob the rest of the way loose and now it spins freely and wobbles.  I called Nitrex cust svc and was told to send it in, not to worry about the $15 return shipping, and was referred to the Weaver website to get the address for shipping.  The eye relief was around 4",  and eye position didn't seem to be critical.  The view seemed very clear at our 200 yard range, but I only used it during midday. I don't know how to do a thorough technical evaluation of optics, but there were no problems getting zeroed or shooting at different distances at different magnifications.  It's a little bigger and heavier than the scopes I'm familiar with.  For the closeout price with additional rebate, I'll be okay with it if the illum gets fixed well, but I wouldn't get another one with that type of piggybacked knob or with those huge turrets, and it wouldn't be high on the list to put on a hunting gun that will be carried through the woods.

They are suppose to be great glass for the money.  they also have a rebate going on that is not advertised on SWFAs site but you can get the rebate info from the Nitrex website.

I just got a 2.5-10x50 TR2 . I have only played around with it a little but it is comparable to my Weaver Classic extreme 2.5-10x50 and Bushnell 4200 2.5-10x40. It has a thin plex that's hard to see in low light. My Classic Extreme has the #4 which is a good bit better in low light. The Bushnell probably edges out both and has the firefly reticle which un-lit is still way easier to see than the others. But for deer hunting(besides the reticles), they are pretty similar IMO !

The Weaver and Nitrex are both very heavy and the finish is not the toughest either. But for the deals being offered on them, they are a good scope. I sent in my Nitrex rebate about a month ago and still have gotten no response. So we'll see .....I think they say up to 6-8 weeks or something !
