Hello there,

I'm looking for new scope for my Broewning BAR .30-06 caliber rifle. This rifle is only for hunting needs. Now I have Optalens scope, something like 3-12x56 IS interchangable with Hakko red dot sight for fast aiming. But I don't like this scope because of very narrow field of view, low performance in dusk/down conditions and finally after 5 years point of impact is not on the same place, its needed to be adjust.

I want universal scope in price level 500-800 USD with 30mm main tube and good performance in dusk/down conditions. Illuminated reticle can be a good option. Shoting range - up to 200-300 meters, but most shots is in 70-120m range. I hunt in forest and there is no need to shot in longer range. But fast aiming is very important for moving animals in short distance.

Now I decided to buy 1,5-6x42 riflescope and I have some options:

1. Nikon MONARCH GOLD 30MM 1.5-6X42 MATTE GERMAN #4 RETICLE

2. Meopta ARTEMIS 2000 SERIES 1.5-6X42 MATTE FINISH 4A RETICLE

3. Burris EURO DIAMOND 1.5-6 X 40MM GERMAN 3P#4 ILLUM MATTE

Which one you suggest to buy? I like Burris because of illuminated reticle, but it has only 40mm lens and it is the cheapest option. Which one have better lens? May be you can suggest another scope? Shoul I buy more expensive scope, for example Kahles, Zeiss or Docter?

Nikon MONARCH X 30MM 2.5-10 X 44 MATTE ILLUM. MIL DOT is very interesting also, but it's different price level.

Thank you!

if you go kahles your looking at a lot more money but getting very good glass, the zeiss option isnt a bad one since they make 1.8-5.5x38 thats about $530 nikon makes a good scope there cs dept sucks burris makes a good product and there cs hasnt been what i would consider consistant depending on whom you talk to, meopta makes a good scope and  i dont know that i have ever heard anything bad about there cs dept, the kahles would be a great choice but also very expensive.

I agree with Pyro6999.  Go to the SampleList on this site and check out the Kahles 1.5-6 C.  You can pick one up for $699 and it would definitely outperform any of the ones you mention.

Yes, it's a nice option but they sell goods only in USA, but I'm living in Latvia (Eastern Europe).

Of the options you mentioned, I would go with either Monarch Gold or Euro Diamond.  Artemis 2000 is a nice scope, but the glass is not quite as good as the Meostar line that is better known in US.

Optically, Monarch Gold and Euro Diamond will be comparable.

That having been said, if you can afford to upgrade to a Kahles scope, it may be worth your money (something like Kahles C 1.5-6x42, for example).  In that price range, yo can also look at Zeiss Classic 1.5-6x42 (personally, I prefer Kahles between these two).

A couple of other options to consider (I am only listing 30mm options):

Sightron S3 1.5-6x50  (it is in the same optical ballpark as Euro Diamond and monarch Gold).
Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10x50 with 4a reticle and illuminated dot (this would my pick as the best variable scope for the money)
IOR 6x42 Hunting with #4 reticle (I have this scope and it is one of my favourites, best choice if you are OK with fixed magnification)

ILya
