Does anybody have experience with this spotting scope? Looks like a nice compact version of the Fieldscope III ED. My question is does it have the same quality as the standard Fieldscope III ED. If so, this might be just what I'm looking for, to use in long range spotting. Any idea how far this will see bullet holes on a clear day?

The basic difference between the "Tactical" Fieldscope and the regular Fieldscope is the black rubber armor on the tactical model. They are both the same physical size.

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

The TF3 is the same scope as the Fieldscope III ED. The TF3 is black and is only offered in a package with the 20-45x eyepiece. I owned the TF3 for a few years. Great scope. I did up grade from the 20-45x eyepiece to the 20-60x eyepiece and 30x eyepiece. The difference is quite noticeable. You can't buy a better scope IMO. The optics match anything Europe offers and for less money. The TF3 does have a smaller FOV and less eye relief than the Ziess Diascope 65 and the Swaro HD65 when comparing these scopes with zoom eyepieces. There are a number of fixed power eyepieces available for the Nikon which are truly outstanding. IMO The Nikon fieldscope III ED with the fixed 30x and 20-60x eyepieces is one of the best if not the best spotting scope combination available on the market.
