Just a note and a question to all:

I sent my 4x16x50 Nikon Tactical back to Nikon, for problems with the side focus hard to turn and when the scope is on low power (4) it has a cresent gap from 8 to about 12;30 postion.
I sent it back and they recieved it on 3APR (FedEx Tracking) and said that they are going to replace the scope.

Here is the problem, they tell me it will be JUNE before they recieve another shipment. That means my replacement will not get to me until the middle or end of June.
I have asked what options I have? All I got back was "We will let you know when we know more."
Is SWFA having problems getting new scopes or answers from Nikon?

Thanks for any help,

jr204shot

It appears from what you've told us, that Nikon is going to send you a "New" Monarch X.

The reason I suggest this is that the new Monarch is due out about the same time they said they could replace yours.

Of course, I may be wrong.

At any rate, I'm sorry for your delay.......

Man.  I know what you mean.   They (Nikon) have had mine since January.  I get about the same response.  I wish they would at least give me an estimate.

I also sent a 2.5 - 10 x 44 Tactical to Nikon in March since it wasn't very clear, and would not hold not hold it's zero.  They did not respond to me other thant sending me a card saying they would take care of the problem scope.  I finally called them, and they said they were going to replace it in June (hopefully 2007).  I called them on 5-31-07, for an update, and they dould not give me any more information.    Great service! Ha!

I'd like to get a Nikon rep on this forum to log on and take an ass whipping for the piss poor CS dept they got going on these days!! Your not the only one to say that they suck.

I have never had any Nikon problems to deal with.....so far.

Send them a link to this thread, Bro. Maybe that will light a fire under them........

Yeah I just ordered a Nikon Monarch 3.3-10x44 with Mildot, was going to use if for a tactical/varmint
scope. When I got it, the left cross horizontal crosshair had what looked like a dent, hole, bend in it at
the post before the mil-dot. Could live with it, but was very distracting, so I sent it back for refund.
Was also unhappy with the MOS only 62....:( Somehow, I was expecting more from a Nikon Monarch.

STILL no scope and they have had mine since January.  This is the last freakin' dime these guys are going to get from me on anything.  I would not feel this way if they could have just given me something other than "I dunno" everytime I called.   This is way beyond what a customer should have to endure.

I just wanted to point out that this has nothing at all to do with SWFA just in case anybody saw this and was confused.  This is all Nikon as I sent the unit directly to Nikon.

I called Nikon twice, and no update was supplied, so I called SWFA, and they said the new Nikons would be in mid July (hopefully 2007).

One consolation is that we will get a scope from the new line sometime in the future!

I am curious though.   The Nikon website says that the Monarch X has 50 max MOA.  Surely this refers to "up" for a total of 100 ??

Doubt it. Probably 50 MOA total.

Is that on the 4-16x?

50 MOA sucks for a Nikon Monarch. You get at least 65 with Zeiss, 95 with Mueller, and and
somewhere between 62-85 with Bushnell Elite. Nikon can do better than that.

That problem is rectified by using a canted rail, like I do.

But yeah, it's makes you wonder what the Nikon R&D were smokin......

Canted rails are nice, but they also add to parralax......:(

Catned rails add to parllax by having the eye piece or ocular part of the scope higher than where the
shooters eye normally would be with a zero MOA base. If the rifle is not equipped with a cheek rest that
accomodates this, then the shooter is putting his cheek on the rifle stock at a different point each and
every time he shoulders the firearm. Therefore, his eye for peering through the scope is not centered
each and every time he uses it, and that ADDS to parallax.

Military or tactical sniper rifles USUALLY don't use a base with any MOA. Instead they rely on mounting
the scope as low to the barrel as possible, and use a 30MM tube scope for added elevation adjustments.
The lower the WHOLE scope sits to the rifle, the less POSSIBILITY there is for parallax error.

Hope this helps to clarify this.

Thanks

OK.

I feel like were picking the fly crap out of the pepper on this one, my friend.

I use a Eagle Industries Stock Pack on my rifle, so the whole head positioning thing due to a 20 MOA canted rail you mentioned is a moot point FOR ME.

A 20 MOA rail helps a scope that suffers from "a lack of up", like most 1" tubed scopes out there now.

I like to think of a canted rail as the "Scope Viagra".

I agree that a canted rail for you is a moot point. But for most, it is not, they don't know about this, or
they cannot find a cheek piece for thier particular rifle. I am just making people aware that if you do
not have the adjustable cheek piece, then a canted MOA base will add to parallax error. And most one
inch scopes due suffer from lack of elevation MOA. One I am impressed with so far are Mueller,
Bushnell Elite, some Zeiss, all have anywhere from 65-95 MOA, which is good for a 1" tube scope.

Supposedly the 2.5-10X44 has 85 MOA, at least the old ones did.  Hopefully the new ones will have this much MOSS, if not they will be X'd off my list of Tactical scopes!

E-mailed Nikon Rep from another thread over a week ago about the new Monarch arrival.   NO ANSWER

I Have sent and e-mail to Nikon asking for a voucher if I do not recieve a new scope by the end of June.

That was 3 days ago Still waiting.

Nothing will probably happen.

I have only waited 3 months, I see some have waited 6 months.
