I have the nikon monarch laser 800
In the field it is good for about 500 metres at best off  trees or grass in bright conditions. It absolutely does not range to 800M in field conditions, off big shiny barns  sure. Other than that it performs great.  That's fine by me because I am not trying to shoot beyond 400M

I hunt with a friend with a leica CRF 1200. They range within a meter or two of each other out to 500M but the CRF is good for up to 1000M on trees or grass, its awesome.

I'll back up that claim, I've ranged small trees up to 1300 with my Leica crf1200. Light, very quick, and easy to use, most will be very happy with this model!!
