Ilya,
I was thinking about giving my Vortex HD LH 3-15x42 to my nephew on a payment plan. I was looking to get the HD LH 2-10x40 or the Meopta MeoPro 3-9x40 for my Tikka T3 in 8mm mauser. I want to use the rifle this fall in Tecas on a hog hunt. I am also going to hunt ducks while I am down there. I will start a new post on scopes for hog hunting. I did like the MeoPro that I purchased for my nephew's Winchester model 70 in .243. Yes, he is the same nephew that just received the 25-06. He wanted something a little bit more powerful, but not a lot of recoil. I thought he would get a .308. Maybe a .270 or 30-06. Oh well.

Ilya,
Yes, he had lofty standards. It is easy when someone else is paying the bills. Have you finished your review of the new Leupold VX-5HD? Thanks.

If you ever decide to adopt another nephew, I am available.

I have not looked at VX5 HD yet, but I really like the VX6 HD.

I recently got a VX5HD 2-10x.  I also have a VX6 but not the HD version.  I have not compared a lot yet, but optically the VX5 is just as good.  They are both excellent scopes.

I am really liking the new Leupold lines.  The VX5 has the double turn zero lock turret, and on my creedmoor I can dial to 1100 yards.  On my ZX6 it is a single turn but will get my .308 to 600 yards.  That feature on those scopes is one of my biggest likes, for my uses it makes them a better fit than many of the other hunting scopes out there these days.

Then you add the flip up Alumina caps they just become awesome scopes.

Supertool73,
Thank you for the feedback. It seems Leupold addressed customer comments about their turrets. I also purchased the older VX-6 model when it went on sale to make room for the newer VX-6HD. I would like to compare the Leica, Vortex and Leupold in 2-10.

Finally received the last check from my nephew. He also informed me that working sucks and working hard for a little amount of money really sucks. Welcome to the real world kid. BTW, the Vortex with the HD glass is great. Thanks Ilya.

I just received my new Vortex Viper HS 4-16x50 last Friday 2/9/18, mounted it on Saturday 2/10, went to shoot Sunday 2/11, and sent the scope back to Vortex Tuesday 2/13. I couldn't get a sharp focus at 100 yards. When I adjusted the scope for the sharpest image I could get (which was still not clear by no means), the parallax was horrendous. I could shift my head slightly and get a 3-4 inch shift of the crosshairs at 100 yards. When I adjusted for the least parallax, the image was super blurry.

Consider the Nikon. Wish I would have. I guess I'll see how good the Vortex warranty really is....

Everyone makes a lemon occasionally.... The vortex is still a better scope and you will be happy with their CS.  I dare say if you had gotten a lemon with Nikon you'd not have such an easy road ahead with the warranty.
