Howa 1500 heavy barrel .243, Bell and Carlson Medalist stock. Looking to make shots at 500-600 if meed be or just having the ability to do so.

Im somewhat stuck on the illuminated reticle because it helps out so much when using lights for predator hunting at night.

I have never used turrets before but really have started to like the idea of them if they are needed.

I will be hunting a variety of terrain both day and night. This hardwoods to flat cut bean fields.

What I am really looking for is a illuminated reticle scope with tactical turrets to make that adjustment if needed.

Thank you

is your price limited to that around those two scopes you listed? Can you spend more? Whats your max budget? We can recommend based on that better than between those two.

id like to spend no more then $400. I thought I was set on the Weaver Classic Extreme 6-24-50 with Illuminated #4 reticle but then found out that scope may not be as good or made the same place it was even 3 years ago. They have a nice sale on that scope right now.

I also though I could get custom aftermarket turrets for it and turns out I cant.

This is about as cheap as I'd go for "turrets and illumination"
Hawke 4.5-14x42 Sidewinder Tactical 30mm Riflescope Hawke 4.5-14x42 Sidewinder Tactical 30mm Riflescope
Stock # - HK4022
  • Matte
  • Illuminated 1/2 Mil-Dot (10x)
  • 30mm
  • Resettable Locking Turrets
  • Side Focus
$449.95
Add Hawke 4.5-14x42 Sidewinder Tactical 30mm Riflescope to Cart
More Details »

Optional Accessories:

And the only reason I'd recommend it is because of this review -

If it were me and I wanted a scope that had everything you want I'd save up and get this -

Its a couple hundred more but it has the CDS dial system and its got a great illumination system.  If you could get by with a 3-9 this is the ticket for a hair cheaper -

In fact there is  a BNIB one for sale in our classified section right now of the later one -

My advise is to either up your budget and get a decent illumination on the scope, or forget about the lit reticle and get better glass.

Leupold VX-R with Fire Dot can be had "around" your price range, if you check with the Sample List.

+1 on either upper your budget or forgetting about illumination.

Also the VX-R would be a good choice. Check the sample list and if there is nothing check back in a few days. The sample list would be a great idea that would get you a better scope for less money then new.

Why no love for the Classic Extreme series? I have two, a 4x16x50 and the 6x24x50. They have both  been very good scopes for the money--on closeout from competitor.
