I've never used Nikon warranty, but word of mouth is that it is god-aweful. Good think though is that their products are usually pretty sturdy and with a little luck you will not need to use the warranty. There were a few post here on the subject icluding some by SWFA folks.

I have heard it was bad too. 2 stores have told me nikon won't ship them any monarchs because their are so many problems and nikon can't keep up with the claims.

I don't buy what your stores are saying. I can drive to 1/2 a dozens stores ithin 10 minutes of my house and get all the Monarchs I want. Of course, I don't particularly want one.
