I was looking at the Nikon Monarch Gold 1.5-6X42 30MM, would it compare to a Zeiss, Kahles, Leupy VX-III, Swaro? Its priced pretty high. So how is it? Chris? Brady?

The Nikon Gold is a very nice scope. As nice as a Swaro, Zeiss...No.

Great eye relief and a 30mm tube...I like it!!

That said, if you got the paper, go for the Euro's.

It compares well (and exceeds optically) Leupold VX III, but is not quite as good as top of the line scopes like Swaro, Zeiss and Kahles.

The Monarch Gold 1.5-6X42 I had was not the equal or either my Burris Signature Select 1.5-6X40 or my Leupold VX III 2.5-8X36.  I may have been a bit brighter, but clarity was better in the Burris and the Leupy, particularly around the edges.  Unless you really need a 30mm tube for very long distance shooting stay away from them.  They are no brighter and clearer than a 1" and cost a lot more money.  If you want to spend $1200 or more on one of the German scopes, they are better, but not that much better.

I do not think I've ever had so many people agree with me :)

I hope it is not a trend.  Otherwise, I'll just have to start proclaiming the inherent superiority of NcStar scopes due to superior design to create some diversity here :)
