I was wondering if any one has experience with these scopes.  They look incredibly clear and bright.  I haven't come across alot of reviews or comments regarding build quality and so forth.

Let me know your thoughts.  Im considering Zeiss Conquest as an alternative.

Thanks,

I'd go with the Conquest, or wait just a litte longer and get one of the New Monarchs that are do out this month.

The Gold is a Monarch with a 30mm tube, as far as I know. You'll have a little more adjustment W/E with a 30mm tube.

For a dedicated hunting rifle, I wouldn't think that the inceased W/E would matter that much.

Glass/coatings are basically the same as the standard 1" tubed Monarch. The Gold's a decent scope, but pricey and not worth the extra $$$ to me.

Thanks cheaptrick,

I just found the search option on opticstalk.  I noted your point in earlier posts.  It surprises me that the glass is the same as the regular monarch because the Gold looks brighter and clearer to me.  Maybe its my eyes.

Will the new monarch gold scopes have different glass?

I thought the same thing.

The couple of Gold's I looked through a while back, had exceptional clarity and resolution.

If I'm not very mistaken, the only difference is the tube size.

I'm certainly NOT trying to dissuade you from the Gold, it's a really nice hunting scope and will serve you well.

BUT....A 30mm tube's benefits of more adjustment, is easily rectified by the use of a canted base,

and most hunters have more than enough with a 1" tube as it is.

My opinion only, but save some coin and get some good mounts.

The new Monarch will have some changes, but the glass, to my understanding will probably remain standard issue UCC old Monarch type glass.

Koshkin brought up the fact in another thread, that since the erectors are going from a 3x to a 4x, that the glass maybe "redesigned". I'm not sure, but His Darkness may be right.

(In a geeky kind of way.)

The new Monarch "should" be a real dandy with the changes. I predict "Conquest" type performance, and maybe....just maybe..a shade better....

Bunch of chatter on here now about the new Monarch's. Check some out.
