I was thinking about a 50 mm objective lense, but  by what i see on here i don't need it.I  am  looking at the 2.5x10x42 monarch in plex reticle and the  sightron sii big sky 3x9x42 in  hhr reticle or 3x12x42 mm  hhr/ I  am going to be deer hunting with it AND SHOTS OUT  TO 400  YARDS .DO I NEED A ADJUSTABLE OBJECTIVE OR SIDE FOCUS  FOR ANYTHING LIKE THE 3X12X42/  Also  has anybody  used that hhr reticle yet/how does it do about sun down/

I have only had limited mileage with the HHR reticle, but it seemed to be reasonably well visible.  As for the scope configuration, I would just go with the Sightron S2 Big Sky 3-9x42.  That gives you plenty of magnification.

Sightron S2 Big Sky would be a fine choice in the 3-9x42 simple enough to know that your getting good advice from an experienced hunter that is very pleased with this scope. The Nikon is a good scope but the Sightron S2 Big Sky has an advantage of better optics.

That would certainly depend on how you sighted your rifle in.

Do you do your own handloading?  If not, it's hard to say how far you'll be able to accurately shoot.
I own a Big Sky (plex reticle) with Kenton knobs.  This alleviates the need for hhr, and is spot-on out to 650 yards (my caliber) with a 100yd zero.  No holdover, just dial and shoot.  As for the Big Sky itself, I think you'd be more than happy with the optical quality and durability.
