Guys,
Has anyone tried the 1" version? http://swfa.com/Nikon-1-4x20-Monarch-African-Riflescope-P42349.aspx
I need a one inch tube scope in this range for a No4T that I have without a scope. When I asked a few months ago no one had really messed with one yet. The leupold VX3 1-4 is also nice and did have some good recomendations. But it is almost $200 more....the advantage would be if I wanted to spend the money I could have target turrets put on it. Just don't know if I want to go to that much trouble on a seldom shot rifle. I would be eaiser if I did not have to use a 1" scope but there you go since the mount is 1"
Thanks

I have 2-7 and 3-9 Monarchs and I think you would be well served with the 1-4. I also have the 1-4 Leupold and it is also a fine scope. Both the Nikon and Leupold are light weight and have trim dimensions. They should sit fine on an Enfield.

I have one mounted on my AK.
I love it, VERY clear, super clear glass, very solid adjustments. The #4 reticle is pretty fast compared to normal crosshairs.
Overall, I'd say one of the best money<>quality ratio's out there. Cheaper price, comparable quality to the other of the Monarch line.
My only gripe is the illuminated dot is only available in the 30mm tube (And costs $800+). As my primary SHTF rifle scope, I would like an illuminated dot. However for the $240 it cost me (At that time), it is 3X the quality of what $240 would have bought me in the 1-4X w/illuminated dot genre.

I will add this to my list of possible scopes then. I want to find an original scope for it eventually but they are steep and I don't know that I would want to use it all that much as damaging it would be costly to say the least. I wish the leupold already came with target turrets, add them would put me up around the $600 range probably.

I go on the sample list to look and they did not have the 1" Africans but the did have a Nikon M-223. Has anyone any experience with it. The 223 calibration would not work for the .303 but I could still learn the adjustments with .303 loads?

I was looking at the M-223 myself but there seems to be a problem with the turrets turning while in transit and that has been the only complaint.

I checked back on the sample list and they had a Leupold VX3 1.5-5X20 on the sample list for $319 with the No4 reticle since that is only about $40 more than the Nikon I piced it up. I might even be able to have turrets put on it.
Thanks for the help.
