I bought a new Browning 223 WSSM A-bolt and put a Nikon UCC 5.5 x 16.5 AO scope on it.  After zeroing it in I went hunting a couple of weeks later. It seemed to be shooting way off.  We bench shot it and noticed it shot the first group of two about 3/4" apart.  The next two were about the same distance apart but 11" away.  I checked my mounts and found them tight.  I shot another group and had it vary about 121/2" apart.  I then bought a Bush AR-15 and mounted this scope on it to see if it was the WSSM or the scope.  It is shooting the same way.  This is my fourth Nikon and I think for the money it is a fine scope.  Has anyone else experienced this problem or is just a "lemon" from the factory?

Welcome to The OT, Rob.

Sounds like your Monarch puked. Sorry to hear that.

I'd recommend sending it back and if you don't mind, report back here on how Nikon's CS Dept treats you.

I had that exact scope about a year ago and I never had a problem with mine.  It sounds like you might have a lemon on your hands.  I'd get in touch with Nikon CS (or, if you bought it from SWFA, contact them) and follow their instructions.

Best of luck & keep us informed...

how is the 5.5x 16.5? is it clear and how is the fov? i have been thinking about this scope for one of my coyote rigs. i cant decide weather to go with this on or a 12 power. we shoot a lot of running yotes and wasnt sure how the fov would be on the 5.5x16. thanks lee

SKEETLEE,

WHEN YOU REALLY CRANK UP THE POWER IT NOT ONLY IS DIFFICULT TO FIND THE GAME, BUT IT'S ALSO A LITTLE DIFFICULT TO GET THE SCOPE PULLED UP TO YOUR EYE AND SEE A CLEAR RECTICLE.  FOR RUNNING ANIMALS AT ANY DISTANCE UP TO 2OO YARDS I'D SELECT MY STRAIGHT 6X LIEPOLD.  BUT WHEN WE CALL YOTES WE ALSO HAVE SHOOTING STICKS WITH US THEN THE 16.5X IS NICE BUT IN REALITY STILL TOO MUCH MAGNIFICATION.

ROB

ALSO GUYS,

WHEN I GET THE SCOPE SENT OFF AND BACK FROM NIKON I WILL REPORT BACK WITH THE INFO.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP,  ROB
