Has anyone had the opportunity to compare the Nikon Waterproof Monarch 800 against the Bushnell Legend Waterproof ( 900+ yrds) price not a factor? I had a Yardage Pro Scout that I sold to a friend with the intention of purchasing one of these two. I know that Bushnell has the largest market share, however, I would like some feedback from anyone as to which one was better, in their opinion, and why they would choose one over the other. Thanks in advance. I will be using it for big game hunting.

Hello Roy.  I have not done a head to head comparison, but I am impressed with the Nikon.  It appears to be very accurate and extremely lightweight.  The Bushnell may be just as good or even better.

The Nikon Waterproof Monarch 800 has a backlit display, that's a big plus   They also advertise "target priority modes".

I am interested in the same comparison between a Nikon Waterproof Monarch 800 and a YP-1000.

The new Nikon is pretty cool.  Looks like they must have did a lot of research in focus groups.  It has a true long eye relief that makes it very easy to use.  The reticle lets you know that ranging is in progress, so you don't have to wonder if you hit the target.  We have not had a chance to use one in a real world environment yet but from playing with one around here and looking at the specs....I think I would prefer it over the Bushnell.  You gotta believe that they did everything in their power to make it better than the best Bushnell because that is their main competition.

Nikon 800....$359.99

I would be more interested in this comparison as well. I tend to be leaning towards the Nikon though.....

Thanks everone for the feedback, I never got a chance to give the Nikon a workout so I went with the Legend. Got a great price from my dealer/friend at the shop where I work. Guess I'm just a Bushnell junkie!!! Having such great experience with the 15-45x60 Elite spotting scope w/ Rainguard. Thanks again.

I have a Nikon Monarch Laser800 and have used it extensively in various conditions. So far it has performed quite well, I have been able to get accurate readings in rain and fog. I have noticed no leakage either, they are waterproof as advertised. The farthest I have ranged an object with it was 835 yards. I have also ranged deer out to 520 yards. During my accuracy tests it ranged the same object(fencepost) consistently at various ranges. I would not hesitate to buy one again, they are well worth the money.

I have the Nikon 800 and although I've never compared it to a Bushnell, my hunting partner used a Leica (new version but not sure what model) this fall and we did some comparative ranging.  I was able to range everything he did (longest I recall was 675) and in all cases the Nikon worked flawlessly and was within 3-4 yards of the the Leicas measurement.  He actually commented that he could have saved a good bit of money and went the Nikon if he'd known better.
