So I am looking for a scope with target knobs for my deer rifle.  I don't want to shoot more than 500 yards at most, so I don't really see the need for the big magnifications that the scopes that do have target knobs have (above about 12).  I really think that I only need 10x-12x at most on the top end and 2.5x-3x on the bottom.

The Nikon line has custom turrets available from both Nikon and Kenton Ind., so I am kind of leaning in that direction.

The Nikon website mentions that only 1" tube Monarch's have the swappable turrets.

I think I know the answer to this already, but are the Nikon custom turrets available for the Monarch Gold line?  I am thinking the 2.5-10x50mm is about right for me.  But to get the longer ranges I need the turrets.  If the Nikon line doesn't work, will the Kenton Ind?  Their website leads me to believe that they will not work.

Thanx,

Matt N

You can always get a zeiss conquest and send it to zeiss to have a target knob fitted to it.  I believe its about $100 to do so.

G,
I think that Zeiss was doing a special on that for only $25.00.

I'll have to dbl check with Brady, But I want to say Zeiss was running a special if you bought a Rapid Z reticle, you could get matching turrets through Kenton for $25.00

I am going down the same road you are with the exception that I already have a monarch gold 2.5-10x56.  Nobody makes a custom turret for the Nikon Monarch Gold that I can find.  I was hoping they would be the same as the Monarch X but apperently not.  I love the glass but figuring kentucky windage at 300 plus yds sucks.  I am shopping for a new scope for this very reason.  You can get the conquest 4.5-14x50 with factory target turrets as well as Kenton turrets and you can get turrets from leupold's custom shop for any of their scopes.  I have been considering the VX3 4.5-14x50 with turrets from their custom shop.  I, like you, don't want to go above 3x on the low end but the Conquest and the VX3's have gotten really great reviews and I would definately consider them.  I really like the Minox ZA5 3-15x50 because it has more on both power ends and they have gotten really good reviews as well.  Unfortunately, they don't come with target turrets.  I emailed Kenton about turrets for the Minox and they don't have them yet but seem to have plans in the near future.  They said the Bushnell 6500 turrets would fit if the Minox has a plastic elevation knob.  I don't have one to check and have posted emails on various forums to see if any Minox owners can check.  Another seemingly perfect scope for my needs which is literally a couple of yards off the end of my gun out to 400yds hunting and 600 yds target shooting, is the Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x50.  The reviews on it are mixed.  Its all very confusing which makes it hard for me to pry the money out of my wallet for fear of making a mistake and buying a scope that I will regret becuase I realized there was a better one suited for my needs.

Skylar would that only be on new or would that apply to the Rapid Z800 4.5-14x44 that I bought off samplelist that has covered knobs.  I wouldnt mind having the target turrets and a Kenton knob, but I'd be willing to bet its only on factory new ones that already have the target turret.
