    Posted: December/07/2006 at 17:02

I'm currently in the market for a somewhat inexpensive scope (I know the subject is common  ) and have almost settled on a referbed Nikon Buckmaster from the sample list. My first question is whether the referbs have the same glass as the new model Nikon Buckmasters. If so, it seems to be the best deal going for the price from what I've read.

The scope is going on a heavy 7mm Rem Mag (i.e. somewhat lighter recoil) that is used for whitetail deer up to 300 yards. Most common ranges are at 125-200. It will be replacing an older POS that I've had on it until I could afford something a bit better. I'm wanting a 3-9X scope for $175 or less. $175 is a stretch, so the Burris Fullfield II and the new Nikon Buckmasters are out. I know better optics are worth it, and have an older Leupold, an older top end Nikon and a couple of Burris scopes already but this is all I can afford for the foreseeable future, and my current scope is unacceptable. I know the Bushnell Elite 3200 is in my price range, but if the referbished Buckmaster has the new glass, it appears that everyone here seems to prefer it over the 3200. Is there anything else in my price range that I'm missing or should consider? Thanks in advance.

just so happens i have an older model 4.5x14x40 buckmaster that i nolonger use was on my rifle that i was using to shot at tactical targets but i decided to buy a super sniper.

i would love to sale this scope at a reasonable price to you to help me out as well as yourself, the scope might have been shot with 40 times and it has been verified that the clicks are true at 100 yards four clicks is exactly 1".  nice scope but i wanted some that has mildots so i opted for the ss.

i would take a low price of $175 and i will pay for the shipping to you.

if you need pictures i can email them to you.

Look for part number 6420 in the descriptions of the 3-9x40 Buckmaster's. These will be the current 2006 production scopes with the finger adjustable adjustments, fast focus eye piece, and current optics. For the price they're hard to beat.

Thank you. That was exactly the information that I was looking for. Since Bruce has gone silent, I'm planning on ordering one in the next week or so.

Bruce alot of people that first log on to the OT do not know it is ran by a merchant,if you knew than you would be rude.

If you did not know this than you were not bieng rude at all. Buckmaster scopes have good glass but not superb. There

are many affordable scopes now days that have better glass and are still bieng offered at bargain prices. Please stick

around and acess as much information as you can, please participate and do not anybody here intimidate you. If this

is to be the best forum on the net we must not let petty things get to us and just be as honest as we can be. In the

end if honesty was used no one should have anything against you.

Since the 7mm mag has rather heavy recoil I might put a fixed power scope on it because the simplicity of not having moving parts might make it hold up better.
