I would like to know if anyone has used this scope?  How well does it work with .308 cal?  What would you recommend if you didn't buy this one? Thanks

The buckmaster line is not as good as the monarch line. What I would recommend is the bushnell 4200 4-16x40 and I would put Kenton Industries knobs on it.

Did you mean with "BDC"?

I think it's a great buy!

As Wes mentioned, the Monarch is better, but the BM will hold it's own.

I did a review of a BDC reticle with a .308.

Hope it helps you! Good luck!

What's the updated price with the knobs upgrade though ? Does it run it up near or more than the monarch ?

Not really sure what your asking, Merc.

A comperable NEW Monarch will be a $100 or more expensive than the one the OP is looking at.

You can get the better optics of the 3-9x Team Primos Monarch w/ a BDC reticle for about the same price as the BM, if you can live with the lower mag. and no side focus.

I couldn't do enough surveys over a short enough period of time to afford a US Optics scope for my new SA M1-A. Had a card for Academy sports and bought a Buckmaster 4.5-14 X 40 with BDC on sale for not a lot of bucks. It is out to the gunsmith being mounted. However, reading some of the posts makes me worry. I own rifles in 30-06 with Zeiss, Leupold, and other scopes, but always wanted .308 with a great scope like I played with in the Army......reach way out and touch whatever. I figured the Nikon would be a stop gap just to get me shooting with the M1-A. Read a few good on line reviews on the internet, and went ahead and bought. However, now after visiting opticstalk.com, a site I didn't know about until now, I am concerned that I may have just wasted some bucks and am now wasting more getting it mounted.
I would love to hear what some folks that have it up and running are thinking. What I have been able to find out from Nikon is that the BDC works best when zeroed at 200 yards, then works pretty close out to 500 with normal variability being produced by powder, bullet, etc., etc., etc. What do the folks firing it think? and yes, I know it ain't the US Optics I want, but it only cost me a tenth of cost of the US Optics, and I hoped it would be a nice stop gap for the next year or so... Thanks for the reply!

I just looked on that website for knobs for the Bushnell line and I didn't see them listed. Mind you, I just looked at the pictures.

BDC is a poor match for most 308 rounds like pretty much all hunting rounds and 175 match ammo, maybe a little closer if you are only shooting 155 SCENCARs.  The Mildot version will work and the BM has enough travel (with a 20moa base) to shoot 100-1000yds on a 308.  Travel is really limited with the Monarch 4-16, if you want the ablity to 100-1000yds without holding over.  The 2.5-10 Monarch mildot has enough travel though.
